Chloroprene Rubber (CR)

Chemical Structure

• Polymerized via emulsion polymerization using chloroprene as the monomer.

Service Temperature

• -45°C to +100°C

Advantages

1. Excellent resistance to oxygen and ozone
2. Non-flammable with self-extinguishing properties
3. Good resistance to oil, solvents, acids, alkalis, and aging
4. High airtightness

Disadvantages

1. Poor cold resistance
2. High specific gravity
3. Relatively high cost
4. Low electrical insulation
5. Prone to sticking during processing, scorching, and mold adhesion
6. Poor raw rubber stability and storage durability

Applications

• High-ozone and aging-resistant cable sheaths and protective covers
• Oil and chemical-resistant hoses, belts, and chemical linings
• Flame-retardant rubber products for underground mining
• Molded products: gaskets, seals, adhesives
